Weald 10k BBQ

 

What happens on the day?

Registration will be open from 08:30 a.m. and free parking is situated opposite 59, Mount Pleasant Road, Weald, TN14 6QD.

Race HQ, at Weald Memorial Hall TN14 6PT, is approximately 300m from the car park.  If you have already entered the event, online, and haven't already received your race number, in the post, it will be ready to be collected.  If you have not yet entered the race, you can do so at Race HQ, in the Memorial Hall.  The entry cost for the 10k or the 2k Fun Run, will be £20 or £8 respectively.

At Race HQ, there are ladies changing facilities, baggage drop and plenty of toilets.

On the green, there will be coffee, soft drinks and snacks available from Weald Community Shop

At 10:15, there will be a ten minute warmup, from Emma Golds of Fitsteps, after which there will be time to line up for the 10k race, which starts at 10:30.

The start of the 2k Fun Run follows at 10:40.

After the event, on the green there will be hot dogs and burgers from the Weald Scouts, as well as fine ales from our award winning pub, The Windmill.

What is the minimum age for entering the 10k?
The minimum age is 15 years old

How do I get to Weald?
From the North: come off the M25 at junction 5 and head south on the A21 toward Tonbridge and Hastings.  Keep on the A21 Sevenoaks by-pass until you get to the A225 / B245 turning to Sevenoaks and Hildenborough and S’oaks Weald - Morley’s Roundabout.  Take the 5th exit Morley Road and follow this into Weald Village.

Form the South: you will either be travelling along the A21 towards the M25 or the A225 from Tonbridge.  On the A21, south of Sevenoaks come off the A21 at the A225 sign and follow the slip round to Morley’s Roundabout.  Take the first exit onto Morley Road and follow this into Weald Village.  From the A225 travelling north you will arrive at Morley’s Roundabout.  Take the third exit onto Morley Road and follow this into Weald Village.

By Public Transport: probably best catching a train to Sevenoaks and then picking up a Taxi (about £12.00).

 

Is there adequate parking?
Yes, directions to parking in fields a short walk to the Start/Finish area are well marked and directions will be given by the marshals on the day.  In case of rain and stuck cars provision will be made to help those in need of assistance.

Are there WCs and changing facilities?
Yes, WCs and changing facilities are available at the registration office in Weald Memorial Hall

Can I register for the race on the day?
Yes, you can if we have not filled up prior to the event.  We do advise runners who want to take part to book on line as early as possible.

Are there prizes awarded?
Yes there are a number of categories for prizes both individual and teams for both the 10K and the fun run. There is also a £50 prize for the course record.

Is there anywhere to eat nearby?

There is an excellent place to eat in Weald, The Windmill a freehold public house.  In Sevenoaks there are numerous restaurants and pubs with many of the well known restaurant chains present.

Before the run the village church, St George’s will be holding its Sunday service on the green.  

This is billed as a “Runners and Supporters” service suitable for all and with the freedom to drop in and out as you wish.  The service will start at 9.30am and last approximately 40 minutes.  All are welcome to join in if they want to.

Who are the organisers of the event?

The event is planned and organised by a committee of four, most of whom are from the village and runners, themselves.
